Meet Garry, Kathy and Truffle
I'm Garry, a retired companion animal veterinarian of 46 years, and I run Pedal Pals with my wife Kathy and our dog Truffle. Kathy and I discovered Buddyrider on our own cycling and motorhome trips around New Zealand with Truffle, and once we found a way to bring her along safely, we never looked back.
We could hardly go for a ride without someone stopping us to ask, "where did you get that dog bike seat from?" That's what prompted us to start selling them ourselves.
Since 2019, we've been proud to be one of New Zealand's longest-standing Buddyrider retailers, and we still love seeing our seats out and about on rides around the country.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will my dog fit a Buddyrider?
Buddyrider suits dogs from about 2.75kg up to 11.5kg, with a 4-point safety harness for a secure fit. Grab a tape measure and check my simple weight, length and width guide, or give me a call and I'll talk you through it.
Will Buddyrider fit my bike?
Most bikes with at least 48.5cm between the seat post and handlebar stem will work, provided the seat post is aluminium or steel (not carbon fibre or titanium). Take a look at my Fitting & Install page to check compatability before you buy.
Can I try Buddyrider before I buy it?
Yes. I offer in-person demonstrations at my home in Tauranga, where you can bring your own dog and bike and see it fitted before you commit. If you can't get to Tauranga, I'm just as happy to talk you through everything by phone.
Can I use Buddyrider with an e-bike?
Yes, many of my customers use Buddyrider on e-bikes. The Flex-Arm accessory is designed to help with battery and frame clearance on e-bike setups. Check my e-bike fit guidance or give me a call to talk through your specific bike.
What's your return policy?
If the seat doesn't fit your bike, you can return it within 10 days for a full refund, less initial postage and transaction fees. The item must be unused and undamaged. Email me first to let me know, then pack the receiver and metal parts carefully for the return.

Your pedal pal is safely secured with the four-point harness, right where they can see what you see. They may get rather excited when they spot a rabbit, cat or another dog. My Fox Terrier, Truffle, lets out excited little yodels, so I seldom need my bell when approaching a group of walkers!
And should you have an "off", your pedal pal is remarkably well protected. I've had a couple of good spills over the years and Truffle has stayed safely restrained in her BuddyRider®. Although I do get the occasional "What was that all about?" look afterwards!
